A Family's Role In Chasing Dreams
"Family is the most important part of life." I was told from the moment I recalled my first memory.
From a very young age, my parents taught me the importance of family and keeping my loved ones close.
Growing up, I was surrounded by 12 cousins, an older brother, and a younger brother. My grandparents owned a house in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Every summer for two weeks, our whole extended family would go and stay at this house.
Spending this quality time with my family allowed my perspective and moral values to adapt. Since I grew up feeling as though I had a whole army of support, I was able to feel supported enough as a child to chase my dreams.
My family has taught me the importance of goal setting and dreaming big. Now, as a college student, I can put in the work needed to become the best version of myself, and it all started with the support I had in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Since I had the support needed growing up, I was able to feel brave enough to start my own podcast.
I created this podcast as a way for other college students to share their thoughts, opinions, and stories. As I continue this podcast, I can grow as an individual and feel confident enough to put myself out there.
I was also able to feel confident in myself to take a journey to Sydney, Australia, where I was able to work for a radio station and put on my own radio show.
Gaining the courage to put yourself out there is the hardest thing to do in life. If it weren't for my family's support, there are many opportunities in this lifetime that I would have missed out on.
Having support from blood relatives or non-blood relatives is very important. Everyone needs a strong support system.
My family has always supported my dreams and visions. I am also a lesbian, and my family has always been supportive.
Since I grew up in a loving community, I can be myself and chase my dreams. I would not be the person I am today if it weren't for my family's love. Family is the most important part of my life.
