 The new Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping, is the 5th book in the Hunger Games series. This book is about Haymitch's story and how he won the Hunger Games. 

    The other Hunger Games books share the story of Katniss and Peeta. Haymitch is their mentor because he won the games before them. 

    This book goes back in time to share what Haymitch went through and the important role he played.

If it weren't for his own trial and error during his games, he would have never been able to guide Peeta and the others to rebel and take down the arena during the later Hunger Games.

    This book was able to help tie the missing pieces of information from the series together and provide new plot twists and understanding for the story. The author was able to make the book interesting, even though we already knew Haymitch would win the games.

    The main twist in the story was how rebellious Haymitch was during his games and how he tried to sabotage the arena. The readers were also introduced to new characters throughout the games, whom we were able to connect with. 

Favorite Character's

    One of the most interesting characters in this book is a girl from District 12 named Maysilee. This girl was able to survive and outsmart most of the other districts, and she and Haymitch had a special bond.

    Haymitch and Maysilee spent most of the games as allies, but Maysilee died a tragic death from genetically engineered pink birds. Even after death, she impacted the future.

 Polarization is two deeply contrasting opinions or values, and the media abuses power. They're tearing us apart by focusing on the division and separation in the world. 

    We are all more alike than we are different, and most people want the most freedom possible for everyone. This is the reason political parties have become an issue. This is causing polarization and division.

Political parties are being controlled and manipulated by fake news. The media makes it easy to divide us by focusing on the extremists of each political party. This is the downside of splitting politics into sections. 

    "Countries with multiparty systems are more advantaged than those under a two-party system regarding societal growth. This is because the voters will have diverse options and not be forced to choose two fixed options," said Goodparty.org.

    There are multiple books, whether fiction or non-fiction, that touch on the issues of polarization. For example, The Hunger Games is a fiction book that touches on a world of division, which reaches a point of dictatorship, and fighting to survive. 

    Although this book is a fiction story, there are many lessons presented in it. These lessons include manufactured division as control, media manipulation, and revolutionary dangers. This book teaches us that when we believe we are better than others for not having the same beliefs, it leads us to disaster. 

    There are many other fiction books that also touch on division and what happens when we are divided. For example, the books Why We Are Polarized by Ezra Klein and The Big Sort by Bill Bishop.

    Why We Are Polarized touches on topics involving political values aligning more with social issues. When most people want the most freedom possible. Adding such social issues to politics is what divides us.

    The Big Sort by Bill Bishop is about segregation and how people have all moved into separate communities depending on political beliefs and values. 

    Our society has reached a point of division, and the main issue is due to our two-party system. We are easy to manipulate, especially through the media, when we are split in two. 

    

DR. Joseph J. D'Onofrio Obituary

   Dr. Joseph J. D'Onofrio died at age 77 on January 17 in Saddle River. He died from a 2-year-long battle with lung cancer. 

    He attended St. Raymond's Parochial School in East Rockaway. He graduated from Notre Dame in the class of 1963, where he was part of the marching band. He then got his doctorate from Columbia University School of Dentistry. 

    In 1969, he opened his dental practice in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. His patients referred to him as Dr. Pain. 

    He married Joanne Marie Louden on July 30, 1966. They had two sons, Joseph John Jr. and Andrew Luke. In 1972, he had a daughter named Jennifer Ann. 

    He loved life, and golf, boating, water skiing, and snow skiing. He was the lead-off batter for the Downing Furniture Softball team. 

    "Chiropractors came from all over the world to observe his model practice. He was a mentor to many and a sought-after speaker for most of his career," said northjersey.com.

    He helped provide others with dental care while being a light of optimism and cheer. His patients always left his office with a smile on their faces. 

    Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he never missed a day of work. He also never missed a day at the gym and enjoys a glass of wine with family and friends.

    Dr. D'Onofrio impacted many lives with his lively attitude and love, and commitment to his work. He also has always been there for his family and friends, and continues to impact many today, even after his passing.

    There will be a viewing at Our Lady of the Lake catholic church on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020. All services are hosted by the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871.

Leonardo DiCaprio Is With a Woman Half His Age

 Leonardo DiCaprio is a 50-year-old celebrity who has been dating a 26-year-old since summer 2023. DiCaprio has been considered a really famous actor since his performance in The Titanic in 1997.

When his career started, he was considered a heartthrob. However, his trajectory of fans has changed since he decided to date a woman half his age.

This movie was a turning point in DiCaprio's career because he played a completely different character than the heartthrob that females were used to witnessing. 

Although DiCaprio was portraying a character in this movie, the downfall of the way he was viewed shifted heavily here.

Celebrities are always expected to act a certain way because they influence society. Since they are supposed to live within standards and boundaries, when they don't, they get backlash. 

Ever since Decaprio decided to date someone a lot younger than him, people have lost respect for him as a person. They still acknowledge the fact that he is a good actor, but ever since his relationship went public, some people don't respect him as an individual.

Celebrities always have to be careful with the way the public portrays them. Celebrities live a very public life, and because DiCaprio decided to date someone half his age, the public backlashed him for it. 

He is now seen by the public as predatory because his actions show that he sees women as nonhuman.

A Family's Role In Chasing Dreams

 "Family is the most important part of life." I was told from the moment I recalled my first memory.

From a very young age, my parents taught me the importance of family and keeping my loved ones close.

Growing up, I was surrounded by 12 cousins, an older brother, and a younger brother. My grandparents owned a house in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Every summer for two weeks, our whole extended family would go and stay at this house.

Spending this quality time with my family allowed my perspective and moral values to adapt. Since I grew up feeling as though I had a whole army of support, I was able to feel supported enough as a child to chase my dreams.

My family has taught me the importance of goal setting and dreaming big. Now, as a college student, I can put in the work needed to become the best version of myself, and it all started with the support I had in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. 

Since I had the support needed growing up, I was able to feel brave enough to start my own podcast. 

I created this podcast as a way for other college students to share their thoughts, opinions, and stories. As I continue this podcast, I can grow as an individual and feel confident enough to put myself out there.

I was also able to feel confident in myself to take a journey to Sydney, Australia, where I was able to work for a radio station and put on my own radio show. 

Gaining the courage to put yourself out there is the hardest thing to do in life. If it weren't for my family's support, there are many opportunities in this lifetime that I would have missed out on.

Having support from blood relatives or non-blood relatives is very important. Everyone needs a strong support system. 

My family has always supported my dreams and visions. I am also a lesbian, and my family has always been supportive.

Since I grew up in a loving community, I can be myself and chase my dreams. I would not be the person I am today if it weren't for my family's love. Family is the most important part of my life.
